Taking inspiration from the suburbs of Chicago, it was a dream to renovate this sprawling old bungalow on a hilltop on Waiheke Island.

The large, open living spaces and passageways called for dramatic contrasts of black and white which provides a stunning neutral backdrop for the client’s extensive art collection, while the more intimate, private wings to the house were treated with deeper tones of colour such as muted charcoals and soft greys from the Resene range, and complimented with luxurious textiles and drapery by The Furnishing Room and plush carpet from Cavalier Bremworth.

Working alongside skilled cabinetmaker’s TK&C, helped to bring the traditional-style tongue&groove kitchen to life, and is characterised by the Bestwood 1/4 Cut American Oak, painted in Resene Nero. Resene Bokara Grey features on the exterior, which compliments the brick and revives the rustic beauty of this home.
